GORHAM, N.H. (AP) – New Hampshire Congressman Paul Hodes has presented a grant in Gorham for $392,000 for safety upgrades to the St. Lawrence & Atlantic Railroad in Coos County.
The railroad operates as a regional rail system totaling 185 miles in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. This project will replace eight miles of 70-to-80-year-old rail in New Hampshire.
Benefits of the project include protecting jobs, attracting new businesses to the region, providing safe transport for bulk shipments and improving freight transportation.
The railroad employs about 55 New Hampshire residents.
