FARMINGTON – Road signs in the Granite Height’s area received some extra graphics Tuesday night.

Five juveniles were summoned on criminal mischief charges after a half-dozen signs were found spray-painted black. The road, speed and no parking signs were sprayed with letters, numbers and artwork showing a part of male anatomy, said a representative from the Farmington Police Department.

A car full of juveniles was spotted by someone in the area after they had painted a stop sign near the person’s home, the police spokeswoman said.

Officer Darin Gilbert tracked the car down around 11:30 p.m. after receiving a description and plate number.

The juveniles admitted to painting more than the one sign, the spokeswoman said. Two of the youths also were summoned on charges of possessing a “usable amount” of marijuana.

Police are waiting for the town to estimate how much it will cost to replace the signs.
