AUBURN – James W. Lynn, 70, of Auburn died peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 7, with his family by his side.

He was born the son of Comer and Nora Lynn on Feb. 3, 1938, in Indianapolis, Ind., where he attended local schools. He then went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1962 as an aviation maintenance specialist second class. He finished his naval career at the Brunswick Naval Air Station.

He started working as a pipe coverer for Pinetree Insulation in 1963, and later went on to work at Buerhaus Insulation until 1976. Changing careers, he worked for A.C. Electric Corp. for 23 years until his retirement in 1999.

He was a gifted mechanic and also enjoyed helping his family with home improvement projects, watching sports, and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Barbara; five daughters, Diana and her husband, Eric Knudson, Debra and her husband, Steve Coy, Donna and her husband, Timothy Clapp, Kelly and her husband, Kevin Lauze, and Jennifer Lynn; two stepchildren, Deborah (Morin) and her husband, Glen Hunt, and Gregory Morin and his wife, Nancy; two sisters, Martha Fontaine and Mary Green; 15 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Danielle, Johnathan, Samantha, Jessica, Ashley, Nicholas, Dustin, Ashley, Michelle, David, Jonathan, Amy, Jessica and Callie; 11 great-grandchildren, Noah, Veronica, Adriana, Matthew, Kennedy, Alex, Katelyn, Elijah, Ava, Talen, and Breck.

He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Clyde Dillon; and a sister, Beulah Woodsmen.
