This is in response to “Government at a glance” of Aug. 5.

The state traffic engineers have determined that the Falcon Drive intersection on Court Street for Auburn Middle School is not busy enough to warrant a light. It’s evident they have never been there while school is opening or closing. Without a policeman directing traffic, a motorist can sit there for quite a while, as the vehicles coming and going on Court Street pay absolutely no attention to the line of cars or to the speed limit of 25 mph.

For that matter, the city doesn’t pay much attention to the 25 mph speed limit on Court Street either, as cars routinely drive along the street at speeds exceeding 40 mph.

What happened to the rotary that was supposed to limit traffic on Court Street? Just talk I guess.

These must be the same traffic engineers that originally regulated the lights on Court Street going toward Lewiston. Taxpayers had to pay a fortune to have somebody come and correct the problem.
