There has been some discussion around town, in news articles and in public meetings about the poor practices of the Dixfield selectmen, and rightly so.
There are two well-deserved lawsuits pending against the town, and very little of the selectmen’s money will be involved with those. That said, the community must work toward having bylaws protecting the town from the fiasco that has taken place.
Anytime people try to make things better, it takes a lot of work. What is needed is unity and clarity in making those changes.
I believe it is illegal for the selectmen to say the public is not allowed to speak at a selectmen’s meeting. Someone needs to be checking into that.
The residents of Dixfield must work together and put aside any pettiness and past grievances. Citizens can have their own gatherings to bring the change that is known to be needed. The question should be, what can be done to make things better in Dixfield?
