Lisbon Falls – James Walter Fournier, 44, died unexpectedly of natural causes at his home on Thursday, Aug. 7.
Jim was born on July 14, 1964, in Portland, the son of Norman and Margaret “Peggy” (Danse) Fournier.
At the time of his death he was employed as supervisor of pressmen on the night shift at the Kennebec Journal and Waterville Morning Sentinel. His printing career began as a teen when he ran the press for his dad’s Lisbon Post. From there he went to the Brunswick Times Record where he worked for 16 years and was at the Kennebec Journal and Waterville Morning Sentinel for the last five years.
His great love was serving as a volunteer firefighter with the Lisbon Falls Fire Co. In January of 2008, Jim received his pin recognizing 25 years of service to the company. The respect and cameraderie he shared with his fellow firefighters, many of whom were close friends, was priceless to him. He was completely devoted to the fire department and to his work as pressman, always striving to do his best.
He served as a photographer for the fire department. Each year he would produce a composite DVD slide show which he presented at the annual banquet. He also posted a Web site of his photos on YouTube which received many hits and made him proud.
He is survived by his parents of Lisbon Falls; a sister Jane and her husband, David D’Andrea, of Bethel; and a niece, Amanda Rose of Chicago, IL.
The Fournier family is grateful to his many friends on the Lisbon fire and police departments and the many others for their support during this difficult time.
