LEWISTON – You have spent weeks or even months creating your artwork. Now you are ready to present it to a gallery. How do you matt and frame it so you enhance rather than detract from the piece?

Kevin Callahan and Ray Michaud of Callahan Art Preparatory Services will address that issue from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at L/A Arts’ next Gallery Talk at Gallery 5.

Callahan and Michaud, both artists, specialize in gallery- and museum-style framing, a method of matting and mounting artwork as well as displaying items.

“Gallery 5 has been fortunate to feature well over 100 talented Maine artists in its first year. The greatest disappointment is receiving a beautiful piece that is poorly matted and framed. I can almost guarantee that it will not sell,” said curator Tammie Grieshaber.

Established in 2001 by Kevin Callahan, Callahan Preparatory Services’ client portfolio includes local, national and international artists, art collectors, museums, galleries and corporate clients.

All Gallery Talks are informal discussions. While there is no admission, preregistration is encouraged. Call 782-7228. Gallery 5 is at 49 Lisbon St. For more information, call 782-7228 or log on to www.laarts.org.
