I offer my condolences and prayers to the Hurley family for the loss of their “Little Princess.”

Earlier this year, my Red Hat Chapter put together some baskets for the family, and delivered them to the Barbara Bush wing in Portland. I was so amazed at the strenghth of this wonderful family. The love and support in the room was powerful. Savannah was the most amazing, beautiful, child I have ever met.

Although we spent only a little time with her and the family, it gave us a new outlook on life and how precious it really is, as is the bond of family.

The gift that Princess Savannah gave us was the miracle of a smile, even in the throes of her illness. She was a sparkling diamond in this crazy world.

We made her an honorary member of our chapter, the youngest Pink Hatter in our group. She left a lasting impression on us that we will never forget.

She will always be a part of our memory, and in our hearts. Although it is difficult to understand why this happened, we can only think that heaven needed a princess to help brighten up the kingdom.
