Kids’ reading program to end with celebration

PARIS – The Paris Public Library is hosting a celebration for its summer reading program participants at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23. Rewards for the library’s “Olympic Readers” will be presented, along with entertainment and refreshments.

In the program’s first four weeks, 23 gold medals were earned by 58 participants, meaning they have read at least 480 minutes this summer.

Participants have been recording the books they have read and the number of minutes spent reading on “foot” log sheets, which are returned to the library.

Gold medal readers receive a personal pan pizza coupon, movie gift certificates and the choice of a paperback book worth up to $10. The participants may earn up to three gold medals this summer.

The log sheets must be turned into the library by 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19. Gold medal readers may contact the library’s staff about the book they have earned.
