WOODSTOCK, New Brunswick (AP) – A 52-year-old man from Spring, Tex., was found dead in his car after officers at a Canada-U.S. border crossing in western New Brunswick heard a shot shortly after the man’s vehicle entered Canada.
Few details were released but the Royal Canadian Mounted Police confirmed the man was the lone occupant in the car and they do not suspect foul play, though alcohol may have been a factor in Thursday’s shooting.
Soon after the man reported to the border crossing checkpoint at Woodstock, a short distance east of Houlton, Maine, police say his car proceeded a short distance then stopped. That’s when the shot rang out.
The RCMP is working with Texas authorities to notify the man’s family.
