CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – A suspicious object found near New Hampshire’s federal courthouse in Concord has turned out to be nothing more than a backpack.
U.S. Marshal Stephen Monier says court officers discovered the bag under a bench in front of the courthouse Friday morning.
He says it appeared to be abandoned causing suspicion.
Concord police and the state’s explosive disposal unit were called in to address the perceived threat.
Monier says the courthouse was not evacuated, but access to the building was limited.
He says a man came forward to claim the backpack during the investigation. There were books inside the bag.
