BETHEL, Vt. (AP) – Vermont State Police say they’ve found dynamite that had been stolen from a Rock of Ages quarry in Bethel, but a probe into who took it remains active.
Detective Trooper Brian Berry says the dynamite and some detonation cord, which were among items stolen from locked structures at the quarry Aug. 6 or Aug. 7, turned up Friday after being left in a remote area by an unknown person or people.
A bomb squad responded to the scene as a precaution and the explosives were removed.
Berry says the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and the State Police have suspects in the theft.
