When their fiddle beat picks up or their words spin a story of songs learned from loving grandparents, Boréal Tordu members bring to life influences of Maine’s past. The group, which will perform at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Deertrees Theatre and Cultural Arts Center in Harrison, describes its style as a French-American mélange. Boréal Tordu’s repertoire includes folk songs, ballads, Cajun swing music and French fiddle tunes – some longtime traditions, some from the performers’ families and some originals. The group also features songs and dances from Quebec, the Maritime provinces and Acadia. For tickets, $14, call 583-6747 or log on to deertreestheatre.org.
