LEWISTON – Louise Ann (Farley) Provencal, 97, of Auburn and formerly of Providence, R.I., died Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Central Maine Medical Center following a short illness.

She was born in Providence, R.I., on Nov. 20, 1910, the daughter of Bernard and Anna M. (Sellery) Farley. She attended various schools in Providence, R.I., including St. Aluysius Convent where she studied classical violin.

Mrs. Provencal was the widow of Clifford E. Provencal Sr., her late husband of 69 years. During her lifetime, she held various jobs and retired as a retail sales associate after 25 years with the Outlet Company Department Store in Providence, R.I.

She was an avid golfer and over the years was a member of various country clubs located in Maine, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Naples, Fla. She and her husband also enjoyed traveling and took two golf trips to Bermuda, and two trips to Ireland visiting her mother’s birthplace, County Cavern.

For the past 27 years, Mrs. Provencal was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Lewiston.

Survivors include one son, Clifford E. Provencal Jr. and his wife, Mary Jeanine, of Westerville, Ohio; and one daughter-in-law, Denice Provencal of Auburn.

She was predeceased by her son, Richard J. Provencal; a brother, Jack Farley; and two sisters, Anna Cabana and Esther Farley.
