2 Venturers elected area officers

LEWISTON – Venture Crew 116 of Lewiston attended Venture Quest, a gathering of Venture Crews from Area 1 (all of New England except Connecticut), at Camp Horace Moses of Russell, Mass., for three days recently.

They attended training sessions, ranging from doing fundraisers, planning meetings, planning activities and super activities to learning about Leave No Trace, compass skills and shooting safety.

After that, the Venturers had free time to play volleyball or basketball or go to the rifle shooting range. That evening, members played Venture Jeopardy.

New officers for the year were elected at the meeting, and two Crew 116s members stepped up to the plate. Nick Bouyea, 18, was named Area 1 vice president, and Lee Morin, 15, current president of his crew, was elected Area 1 president.

Venturing is a branch of the Boy Scouts of America, open to boys and girls ages 14 to 20 who wish to participate in scouting and high adventure activities.
