NORWAY – L.F. Pike will host “Farm & Forest Day” on Main Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Beal’s Tavern parking lot.
The event is to celebrate folks who make their living from the farm and forest, the organizations they belong to, and the agencies and organizations that support them.
The OHCHS FFA will hold a grill and bake sale and provide forestry demonstrations, Pleasant Valley Grange will be selling homemade pies by the slice, and Waterford Grange members will tempt visitors with fudge. These groups, along with Lakeside and Oxford Pomona Grange members, will be on hand with displays and ready to answer questions. Also, representatives from the Oxford County Soil and Water Conservation Office will be there with information about their agency and its many programs, and will organize an activity for children.
Anyone with an antique tractor, service animals, show animals, farm or forest industry history displays, or any other related ideas is invited to participate. Tractors will be given space “cruise-in” style in the parking lot. There will be music, raffles and door prizes.
A small parade from Witherell Park to Advertiser Square is tentatively planned for 1 p.m., weather and participation permitting. Norway Business Association Officers will be in charge of the end result. Anyone wishing to participate is invited to call 743-6561.
