OXFORD – Lorraine Elizabeth (Hemingway) Nadeau of Oxford passed away unexpectedly Monday, Aug. 18.

She was born May 22, 1936, in Lewiston, from a family of two brothers and one sister of parents, Clifford Hemingway Sr. and Diana C. (Poirier) Hemingway of Norway. She attended Norway High School and graduated with honors at Norwich Free Academy in Connecticut.

She worked for many years as a dog groomer in her own business of Sesame Dog Grooming. She was a member of the Oxford Writers and Storytellers group, treasurer of the Maine-ly Toy Dog Club and a member of the local Focus Group.

Always a hard worker, her passions included reading novels and writing, publishing two of her own novels, dog showing, flower gardening and drawing. She was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching the truck pulls at Oxford County Fair. She loved showing her dogs, Chihuahuas and Shih tzu and all of the good times spent with her friends.

She had great faith and determination, always quoting “don’t sweat the small stuff.” She enjoyed feeding and watching her birds and always liked nature, especially moose. She loved the outdoors, going to the ocean and sight-seeing through the White Mountains. But most of all, she loved family gatherings at the holidays and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Penny and Gene Bryant of Oxford, Jill and Russ French of Norway, Jan and Dennis Barker of Hebron and Cory and Tim Lapham of Albany Township; her grandchildren, Gene Bryant Jr. and wife, Mary, Cliff Bryant and partner, Alicia and Joe and Brett French; two great-granddaughters, Madison and Aubrey; a brother, Barry Hemingway of Harrison; and a sister, Cynthia Curtis and husband, Russell, of Harrison.

She was predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Diana Hemingway of Harrison; and her brother, Clifford “Junior” Hemingway of Harrison.
