LEWISTON – Lewiston High School welcomes alumni soccer players from both the boys’ and girls’ programs for today’s annual Alumni games.
The games will be played at Don Roux Field on the Franklin athletic complex next to Lewiston High School. This will be the second year the alumni game will be played in honor of Matt Manley, a Blue Devils’ soccer player tragically lost in an accident two winters ago.
Proceeds from the sale of commemoritive T-shirts will be used in Manley’s name for a scholarship to a graduating senior boys’ soccer player. Last years recipient was Kyle Dussault.
JV and freshmen boys will play the older alumni (Legends) at 4:30 p.m. Occasioally some of the more recent alumni have played in this game, as well.
This match will be followed by girls’ varsity soccer team against the women’s alumni. That is scheduled for 6 p.m. The boys’ varsity and recent alumni will meet at approximately 7:30 p.m.
All alumni players are asked to be at the field at least 20 minutes before their scheduled game time.
L-A youth bowling registration Saturday
LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Youth Bowling Association will be holding registration on Saturday, August 23 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 6 from 10 a.m. to noon at Spare Time Recreation.
This registration is open to boys and girls up to age 21 as of August 1, 2008. There are three age divisions according to age and ability. Coaching is provided for younger bowlers of all skill levels.
Registration fee is $14 with a weekly fee of $9. Bowling shoes and a bowling shirt are provided.
The start date is Saturday, Sept. 13, and the leagues runs through April 2009. If you have any questions, please call Steve or Angela Dubuc at 782-0006.

AUGUSTA – The Augusta Chapter of Football Officials is in need of new officials. This board services the football needs of Androsoggin and Oxford counties.

Levesque tourney rescheduled for Sept. 19
AUBURN – The Roland Levesque Benefit Golf Tourney postponed by rain on August 8 has been re-scheduled for Friday, Sept. 19 at Fox Ridge Golf Club. Play begins at 8:30 a.m.

Ben Alpren team hosting benefit tourney
LISBON – The Ben Alpren team is holding a men’s softball tournament on Saturday, August 30 at Lisbon Recreational fields.
Alpren of the Lewiston Men’s League is raising money to go to Florida in September to compete in the USSSA Worlds held at the Disney World complex.
The fundraising tournament will feature unlimited homeruns and all at-bats beginning with a 1-1 count.
Awards will be given to top three teams and also to the person who hits the most home runs during the entire tournament. Contact 212-7424 to enter.
