At a time when most of the news is on the negative side, we would like to thank the people of Monmouth who rallied around saving a dog.
Our Labrador-mix, Buddy, decided to chase a raccoon into a culvert that was about 160 feet long. Neighbors, public works employees, police and local businesses responded and after about two hours, Buddy was safely extricated from his predicament (along with the raccoon).
Without the assistance of those unselfish individuals, the outcome assuredly would not have turned out so well.
We thank each and all individuals involved, and the clinic that opened to check Buddy out after the incident.
