SOUTH PORTLAND (AP) – A Scarborough man suffered what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries and faces multiple charges after apparently crashing a pickup truck into a utility pole following a brief police chase, South Portland police said Saturday.
Authorities said information about a suspected drunk driver in the Maine Mall area came in shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday and that officers pursued a speeding vehicle matching the description they had been given.
Police said pursuing officers lost sight of the pickup but that it was found almost immediately on Running Hill Road, where 45-year-old Keith Bragdon had to be extricated from the vehicle by Scarborough emergency personnel.
Police said Bragdon was taken to Maine Medical Center for treatment and faces charges that include operating under the influence and failure to stop for police.
