SALEM – Mt. Abram High School students need to report to school at the regular time, 8 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 27.

The approximately 65 freshmen will then be bused to Carrabassett Valley to start a hike into Maine’s Huts and Trails for an overnight stay. The trip will include team building and decision-making activities led by teachers and counselors, a school representative said Friday. It is to help students organize and make the transition to high school and to relate with each other, the representative said. The hike and activities are planned to be appropriate for students regardless of physical abilities or experience.

The upper grades will attend classes Wednesday and Thursday, and have Friday off.

The freshman class will attend school Friday at the regular time. Their parents will be invited to come to the school from noon to 2:30 p.m.
