Incident Report Statistics

Between Saturday, Aug. 16, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 24, at 6 p.m. patrol officers were extremely busy responding to 122 complaints.

Assault

On Aug. 19 at 12:10 P.M., Rumford Hospital reported a male subject was in the ER reporting he’d been stabbed. The victim, 20-year-old Mexico resident Alex Mackerron, reported being approached and asked if he was from Rumford. Unknown Suspect pulled a knife. Victim stated he raised his arms to defend himself and was cut on the right arm twice. Incident is still under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the assault is requested to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at (207) 364-3449.

On Aug. 20 at 12:32 p.m., two Rumford residents reporting being assaulted by the other. Both claimed they were assaulted with one being spit in the face. Case is being sent to the District Attorney’s Office for review.

On Aug. 21 at 1 a.m., Swain Road resident reported being assaulted on Waldo Street. Victim didn’t wish to pursue charges.

On Aug. 22 at 1:01 p.m., 13-year-old male from Mexico reported being slapped on Spruce Street. Tonia Hanks, 18, of Rumford admitted the assault after being called an offensive name and was summonsed to court.

On AUg. 24 at 3:11 a.m., Waldo Street female was assaulted by another female with a bottle after an altercation. Victim received a cut above the eye and went to Rumford Hospital for treatment. Victim, who was intoxicated, was uncooperative and no charges were pressed.

Burglary

On Aug. 23 at 10:12 a.m., Route 120 resident reporting someone entered his barn and stole a cooking and wood stove. Each valued at approximately $200.

Criminal Mischief

On Aug. 18 at 9:39 a.m., Rumford Avenue resident reported someone sprayed shaving cream on his motorcycle. Motorcycle was cleaned with no visible damage.

On Aug. 23 at 8:06 a.m., Lincoln Avenue resident reported someone slashed a tire on her vehicle and a vehicle belonging to a Dixfield resident. Estimated damage of $85 per tire.

Criminal Trespass

On Aug. 19 at 9:12 a.m., Cumberland Street resident reporting an intoxicated person in his house without permission. Officers arrived and suspect left without incident. No charges were filed.

On Aug. 20 at 4:06 a.m., Glen Knox, 24, of Peru was charged with criminal trespass and criminal mischief after he allegedly entered a Forest Avenue residence and fell asleep on the couch. Knox, intoxicated, also had a warrant for unpaid fines for operating after suspension and failure to stop for a police officer.

Disorderly Conduct

On Aug. 16 at 11:40 p.m., Luis Rivera, 23, of Rumford was charged with disorderly conduct. Erik Matthews, 21, of Rumford, was charged with disorderly conduct and violation of conditions of release after an incident on Cumberland Street.

Furnishing Scheduled Drugs

On Aug. 17 at 3:40 p.m., Catherine Shaker, 43, of Rumford was charged with furnishing a schedule W drug on Cumberland Street. Larry Chapman, 29, of Rumford was charged with possession of a scheduled Z drug.

Possession of Marijuana

On Aug. 23 at 12:45 a.m., Ryan Mayo, 21, of Peru was charged with illegal possession of marijuana on Route 2 after a traffic stop.

Operating Under the Influence

On Aug. 20 at 5:20 p.m., Richard Tibbetts, 56, of Oxford was arrested after a crash on the Rumford/Mexico bridge at the bottom of Lincoln Avenue, and charged with operating under the influence. Estimated $2,000 damage to wheel and suspension of the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado after it struck the curbing of the bridge.

On Aug. 23 at 12:03 a.m., Brandon Elliott 21, of Peru was charged with operating under the influence after a traffic stop.

Sex Offender

Each week the Rumford Police Department will spotlight an individual(s) living in Rumford who are registered sex offender(s).

Duane Waterhouse, 64, of Rumford has convictions for gross sexual assault and unlawful sexual contact.

Andrew Cormier, 49, of Rumford has convictions in California for lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14.
