LEWISTON – John “Jack” Bussell, 77, of Lewiston, died Aug. 27, after a short illness.
He was born in Lewiston, Jan. 18, 1931, son of John and Agnes Bussell. He graduated from Lewiston High School and the University of Maine at Gorham, with a master’s degree in education, serving the students of Lewiston High School for 34 years.
He served his country in the National Guard Co. G 103rd Infantry RCT. He was a communicant of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, serving on the vestry a number of times.
Jack was a member of the Stanton Bird Club and Webber Pond Association. He was also a member of Tranquil Lodge, Androscoggin Valley Scottish Rite, Maine Consistory, Kora Temple, director emeritus of the Kora Greeters, member of the “Q” and the Auburn Trustee Association.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Haynes Bussell; son, John and wife, Sally; daughter, Mary Louise and husband, Clifford Rider; a sister, Frances B. Rinaldi; grandchildren, Jennifer and husband, Michael Lacombe, John Hawkins, Holly Bussell, Mary Elizabeth Morin and Christopher and Caitlin Rider; and a great-granddaughter, Gwendolyn Lacombe.
He was predeceased by his parents; and a sister, Dorothy B. Winslow.
