LEWISTON – The 2008-09 Lewiston Demons middle school hockey team invites any player that will attend Lewiston Middle School or who will be a sixth-grader in any of the Lewiston public elementary schools to attend its tryout Sunday, Sept. 7 at Androscoggin Bank Colisee. The tryout begins at 5:40 p.m.
Players must be entering grades 6 to 8 this fall. The season runs from October to April. All players must have current year 2008-09 USA hockey card. There will be a non-refundable tryout fee of $20.

Lewiston Ice Dawgs schedule tryout
LEWISTON – The Lewiston Middle School Ice Dawgs hockey team will hold a one-hour tryout at 7:50 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 7 at Androscoggin Bank Colisee.
Any boy or girl entering grades 5 through 8 in any Lewiston or Sabattus school is eligible. Players must report by 7:15 a.m.
There is a non-refundable $20 tryout fee prior to tryouts.
Please pre-register with USA Hockey online or bring a copy of your registration receipt to the tryout.
The season consists of approximately 16 games and several practices.

Volleyball organizational meetings Sept. 4
LEWISTON – An important organizational meeting for Lewiston Department of Recreation (Multi-Purpose Center Site) Co-Ed Volleyball B-1 & B-2 Leagues will be held Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008 at 6 p.m. in the MPC cafeteria.
Anyone organizing a team or wanting to play on a team should attend. A meeting for the Men’s & Women’s leagues at the Armory and the Co-Ed “A” League will be held directly afterward around 6:45 p.m. at the cafeteria. If you cannot attend, please send a representative.

Habitat for Humanity tourney at Springbrook
LEEDS – Twenty teams already have signed up for the fourth-annual Androscoggin Habitat for Humanity golf tournament on Friday, Sept. 19 at Springbrook Golf Club. The organization’s largest annual fund-raiser raised more than $10,000 last year. The funds were used to build a home on Golder Road in Lewiston.

Softball benefit scheduled
LISBON – There will be a men’s slow-pitch softball tournment Sept. 6 at Pinewoods Fields. Entry fee is $125 and will benefit the Gridiron/Danny’s Landscaping team competing in the national tournament in Orlando. Contact Steve Curtis at 713-7851 for more information.
