SOUTH PARIS – N. Louise Twitchell, 82, of East Bethel, died on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Market Square Health Care, after a long illness.

She was born in Bryant Pond, on May 20, 1926, the daughter of Lewis and Norma (Berry) Tirrell. She graduated from Woodstock High School, salutatorian of her class of 1944. She was noted in the high school yearbook as follows: Glee Club; Outing Club; First Aid; Operetta; Alumnae Editor 1943; typist for Eureka.

She enjoyed skiing and deer hunting. In later years, she and husband, Roger, enjoyed fishing in Alaska, and worked on many creative craft projects.

Early on, she had worked for Tebbetts Mill before working at Gilbert Manufacturing (formerly Ecko) for 36 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Greenwood Historical Society, the Bethel Senior Citizens and the Greenwood Senior Citizens groups.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Roger Twitchell and one son, Stuart Twitchell, both of East Bethel; one daughter, Penny Tibbetts of Norway; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Jean Marston and Fern Jordan; and grandson, Jeremy Twitchell.
