AUBURN – A surprise party was held recently for Maurice and Betty Goulet of Stuart, Fla., formerly of Auburn, on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.

Party hosts were Don Goulet and Maureen and Jon Mennealy, and toastmaster was Normand Paradis.

A DVD featuring a collection of photographs recapping their 50 years was viewed. A poem with a timeline of their courtship and marriage was read by their granddaughter. Sonia Moeller officiated at the renewal of vows.

Mr. Goulet and the former Betty Decoster were married June 28, 1958, at St. Joseph’s Church in Lewiston.

They have two children, Don Goulet and Maureen Mennealy, and her husband, Jon Mennealy. They also have two grandchildren, Troy and Alison Mennealy.

Original wedding attendants present were Sandra Haught, maid of honor, Barbara Arnold and Mary Bailey, bridesmaids, Normand Paradis, best man, and Dick Amero, Gerald Amero and Everett Davis, ushers.

Family and friends attended from Florida, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
