Dear Sun Spots: I have written you in the past looking for information on the Autumn Day Spa. I would like to know if you have received any information from Crystal Lavoie (the owner) on the status of her finding a new place and her being re-certified.

I feel that all of us who are holding gift certificates have been more than patient. I have not seen an ad in your paper for her reopening the spa or a letter to the Sun Spots as to when she thinks she may reopen.

Thank you in advance for the help that you have provided in the past and for looking into this matter. I hope that Crystal contacts Sun Spots with some answers. Yours truly. – Joline, Lewiston.

Answer: Although Sun Spots did receive word from Crystal Lavoie in February that she intended to reopen after she was relicensed and would honor gift certificates purchased at Autumn Day Spa last year, we have not received any news on her plans since. At the request of our readers, Dan Shagoury, state Sen. Margaret Rotundo’s legislative aide, contacted Jim McKenna of the Attorney General’s Office of Consumer Affairs about the outstanding certificates, and McKenna said that if a business closes then the business owner owes the holders of gift certificates and gift cards the value of those certificates and cards. To contact the AG’s Office, call 800-436-2131 or consumer.mediation@maine.gov.

Dear Sun Spots: The Norway/Paris Lions Club would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to all who attended and supported our 30th Annual Antique Auto and Truck Show held Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 2 and 3, at the Oxford County Fairgrounds in Oxford. Once again, it was a big success with more than 250 entries. The day ended with the drawing of this year’s raffle car of a 1975 Chevy Nova. The winner was Arthur Jackson of Buckfield, Maine. Thank you to all those purchasing tickets for the car.

Also, we would like to extend our appreciation to Mark Danico and Jim Lamb for the time and effort in the preparation of this year’s raffle car. Thank you to you both.

The funds that are raised through holding this event are used to support humanitarian needs associated with the blind and visually impaired as well as hearing aids to Oxford Hills residents. The Norway/Paris Lions Club also focuses on education for diabetes awareness.

If you would like to help serve your community, the Norway/Paris Lions Club invites you to attend one of our meetings held on the first and third Mondays at 6 p.m. at the Deering Memorial United Methodist Church at the corner of Main and Church streets in South Paris.
