OXFORD, Conn. – James Patrick DeWitt, 48, of Oxford, Conn., passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Aug. 31.

He was born on Aug. 24, 1960, the son of Dorothy (Caron) DeWitt of Lewiston and Kenneth J. DeWitt of New Jersey.

Jim was the beloved husband of 14 years to Victoria (Boccamazzo) DeWitt, to which he expressed his love, respect and gratitude for her being the Angel of his life.

He has three amazing sons, Nicholas, Matthew and Jimmy, whom he adored and devoted his entire life to. His love and dedication for his children was evident through the support, attention and the distance he would go for each of them.

He would never miss the opportunity to be a part of their lives and would always want them to go the distance for themselves.

He was the director of maintenance at Jetmark Aviation in Connecticut. He was a perfectionist and adopted a passion and love for mechanics, which stems from his earlier days working on pedal bikes, dirt bikes and moving on to fast cars and then the almighty aircraft.

He was also very fond of his pets, which he considered part of his family and treated them as such. He was an incredible harmonica player. If you ever had the chance to hear him play, the sounds will always be with you.

He was an avid member of the Milford Riders Club and enjoyed the freedom and endurance while riding at the track, being free and flying at his own heights.

He was a son, husband, father, brother, friend and most of all a spirit that will be remembered in our hearts forever.

In addition to his wife and parents, survivors include his three cherished sons, Jimmy DeWitt of Oxford, Conn., and Nicholas and Matthew DeWitt of Winthrop; three brothers, Steve DeWitt of Wilmington, N.C., Alan and wife, Betsy DeWitt, of Wilmington, N.C., and Michael and wife, Michelle DeWitt, of Lewiston; five sisters, Karen DeWitt of Sabattus, Linda and husband, John Hudson, of Turner, Michele and husband, Gerry Bonenfant, of Monmouth, Diane Carney and companion, Jason Roy, of Poland and Rose Marie DeWitt of New York; his mother-in-law, Mary Ann Boccamazzo of Bridgeport, Conn.; and so many loving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
