FARMINGTON – Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District will host a workshop, “Planning for the Future Starts Now, Creating a Family Forest Legacy, Securing the Future of Your Woodlands,” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, in Farmington.

Speakers will be Roger Monthey of the U.S. Forest Service, Gary Anderson of the University of Maine Extension Service and Paul Dillon, an attorney with experienced in the legal aspects of transferring forested lands.

Kevin Doran of the Maine Forest Service will facilitate. Issues to be covered include “Challenges in Planning the Future of Family Lands,” “The Team Approach to Estate Planning” and “Successful Family Lands Planning.”

Registration is $35. Light refreshments will be provided, with lunch on your own.

The district will also host a half-day workshop on “How to Make Your Woodlot Turn a Profit” from 8 a.m. to noon Friday, Oct. 3. The workshop will be held at a small woodlot in Phillips. Registration is $20.
