My heart goes out to law enforcement officers and their families. Every day, when our protectors and champions for justice put on their uniforms, an air of uncertainty follows them throughout their shift.

Their families, friends and loved ones must deal with the harsh realities of those in this profession. All it takes is one telephone call to turn a family’s cheerful day into a tragic nightmare.

We are blessed to have such dedicated people surrender their lives to the call of law enforcement. It takes a special person to be of this caliber. They are our heroes. To lawbreakers, the opposite is true!

They put their lives on the line to do their job. They give of themselves continually. Seldom do they receive positive recognition or appreciation for what we take for granted.

I am thankful God has called these brave individuals to this field of service. I appreciate their sacrifices, many of which we are unaware. I am proud to know some of these fine, caring, giving people, who provide a quality of service we all directly benefit from.

The next time you have the honor of meeting one of our heroes, let them know you appreciate their dedication and call to service. A little thoughtfulness goes far and doesn’t cost extra. The other day someone told me how much they appreciated what I do! It made my day and blessed my heart.

It’s never wrong to be an encouragement to someone, especially when it’s the right thing to do.
