GOULDSBORO (AP) – Two eastern Maine men have been charged with arson for allegedly setting fire to another man’s lobster boat.

Officials say 38-year-old Bradley Wilkinson of Winter Harbor and 37-year-old Avery Scott of Gouldsboro were charged Thursday.

The fire was reported late Wednesday night while the 25-foot boat was moored in Bunker’s Harbor in Gouldsboro.

Public Safety Department spokesman said witnesses reported seeing Wilkinson and Scott swim away from the burning vessel, which was burned to the water line and sank.

McCausland said there apparently was bad blood between the two men and the boat owner, but he didn’t know any details.
