I am dismayed to learn that the nonpartisan Alliance for Maine’s Future has just announced that Peggy Rotundo and other Lewiston Democrats are rated among the Maine legislators with the worst economic voting records.
I know Rotundo is a nice person, but her voting and attitudes in the Legislature are hostile to the very businesses that provide jobs to Maine’s workers. Some individual votes might be justified, but her aggregate record comes out wrong for a healthy economy.
Fortunately, Rotundo’s opponent understands economics. Michael Dumas, a graduate of Andover College, currently is employed as a business analyst. A Lewiston native, he also is experienced as a member of Lewiston’s Board of Appeals and is chairman of the Solid Waste Committee.
I urge the voters in Lewiston House District 74 to support Michael Dumas. He will make the correct decisions to lower spending, lower taxes and create a healthy job climate.
Douglas I. Hodgkin, Lewiston
