LEWISTON – Law enforcement and fire personnel willl hold a Sept. 11 remembrance ceremony at 8:30 a.m. Thursday on the lawn at the Central Fire Station. The ceremony, which will be attended by fire and police units from Lewiston and surrounding communities, is expected to last 30 minutes.

Mayor Larry Gilbert will speak, and a prayer will be offered by the Fire Department chaplain. The Lewiston Fire Department’s honor guard will lower the American flag to half-staff, as ordered by Gov. John Baldacci, and the station’s bell will toll at the times hijacked airplanes hit the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 11, 2001.

The public is invited to attend.
