FARMINGTON – An air horn test is planned for noon Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the University of Maine at Farmington.
The air horn was recently acquired from Farmington Fire and Rescue and installed on the roof of the UMF Public Safety building.
The siren can be heard across campus and will signal students, faculty and staff that they should seek more information about the nature of the emergency.
Formerly used to alert firefighters to a general location indicated by numbered fire alarm boxes around town, the horn’s blasts will reach beyond the campus.
