FALMOUTH – Daniel C. Creighton Sr., of Falmouth, passed away at his home on Sept. 7, after a five-year battle with cancer.

He was born in Townsend, Mass., Oct. 14, 1943, to Raymond and Jessie Creighton. He was raised there, graduating from Townsend public schools. He worked at the family business, Creighton & Sons Wholesale Florist, which relocated to Portland in 1963.

On Feb. 2, 1963, he married Donna S. Hay in Ashby, Mass., and together they had four children.

He was a very kind, generous and soft spoken man, who had a smile and joke for everyone. His love for his family was evident by his total dedication to them, which he put first and foremost in his life. He had many friends and will be greatly missed by all.

Dan was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, lobstering and gardening, activities which he often shared with his family. He was a three time recipient of the Maine Antler & Skull Trophy Club award for white tailed deer and bear.

He is survived by his wife, Donna of 45 years; his three sons and daughter, Daniel C. “DJ” Creighton and his wife, Debra, of Falmouth, Dr. Todd Creighton and his wife, Dr. Jany Rose, of Baltimore, Md., Lieutenant Commander Sean Creighton and his wife, Rebecca, of Boca Raton, Fla., and Dr. Paige McInerney and her husband, Darrin, of Brunswick; three grandchildren; he had been looking forward to the birth of his fourth grandchild, due Sept. 5; his mother, Jessie Creighton of Falmouth; his three brothers, including his twin; and five sisters and their families.
