AUGUSTA – The Equity Fund of the Maine Community Foundation seeks grant proposals for projects related to supporting gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender programs in Maine.

Applications for project grants supporting the GLBT community in rural and other under-served communities are particularly encouraged, as are proposals for capacity-building support.

The deadline for applications is Monday, Sept. 15. Between five and 10 grants are made each year, ranging from $1,500 to $7,500.

In addition to its regular grant-making program, the Equity Fund is seeking proposals for a one-time project to create a Web site focused on building connections and sharing resources in Maine’s GLBT community.

One grant of $5,000 will be awarded; however, multi-year funding up to $10,000 may be considered. The deadline for Equity Fund Web site project proposals is also Sept. 15.
