We are indeed blessed living America, the greatest country on earth.

Freedom of speech and freedom of the press are some of our great blessing.

So allow me to make a few critical remarks about our newly minted Republican vice presidential candidate, Gov. Sarah Palin.

According to an article from the Sept. 4 Sun Journal, headlined “Palin: Iraq war a ‘task that is from God'” and a video of her speech last June to ministry students at the Wasilla Assembly of God, she urged them to pray for a plan to build a natural gas pipeline, calling it “God’s will.”

According to Palin, our national leaders are also implementing God’s plan by sending our young men and women to fight in Iraq, and she as well is carrying out God’s will from the governor’s office to build the pipeline.

History is full of leaders who have brought unspeakable misery and mayhem over the world, all in the name of God or acting in accordance with divine providence.

The good governor of Alaska would be well-advised to consider and contemplate the words of Jesus Christ, who said: “My Kingdom is not of this world.”

For the sake of full disclosure: I consider myself to be a lifelong conservative Republican, and agree with John McCain’s slogan, “Country first!”
