Every year the Canadian Hockey League hosts the annual Import Draft to give European hockey players a chance to join one of the world’s premier junior hockey leagues. This year the Lewiston MAINEiacs continued their tradition of selecting another Slovakian born player. With the 29th overall selection of the CHL Import Draft the Lewiston MAINEiacs selected Librec forward Filip Janosik. Janosik will be the 6th Slovakian to dawn a MAINEiacs sweater following Richard Stehlik, Vladislav Balaz, Jaroslav Halak, Michael Korenko, and Jakub Bundil.
Janosik was born on April 6, 1991 in Spisska Nova Ves, Slovakia. The right handed forward stands 5’9″, and weighs in at 165 lbs. He is said to be an excellent skater that is strong on the puck. In 2007-08 with Liberec U18, he recorded 21 goals and 23 assists in 40 games with a plus 28 rating. For Liberec U20 he had 2 goals in 4 games.
