RUMFORD – Marion G. Johnson, 85, died Saturday, Sept. 13, at her residence in Rumford.

She was born in Rumford on Nov. 9, 1922, a daughter of George and Ruth (Oliver) Kilgore. She graduated in 1940 from Stephens High School in Rumford and attended the University of Maine at Orono.

Marion had been very active in the Greater Rumford Book Club. She enjoyed traveling with her family.

She was married in Portland on Aug. 9, 1942, to Ralph Adolph Johnson Jr. who died in Boston, Mass., on Feb. 10, 1988.

Survivors include daughters Ruth Dekin-Hoaglin and husband, Carl, of Newark Valley, N.Y., Terry Karnan of Portsmouth, N.H.; a son, Ralph A. Johnson III and wife, Chris, of Portland; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
