Mechanic Falls – Eleanor May Jewell, 77, of Mechanic Falls, passed away Sunday morning at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Minot, Sept. 29, 1930, a daughter of Montford and Gertrude Alexander Greenwood and graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in the class of 1949. She loved birds and flowers and had beautiful flower gardens around her home, she was known as the honey, pear, bird or flower lady.

She was a life member and Past Worthy Matron of Dwinal chapter 28, Order of the Eastern Star, in 1980, she was Grand Electra of the Grand Chapter of Maine, O.E.S. She was a member of the Oxford County Homemakers,Robin Dow senior citizens, First Auburn senior citizens, Charles Angles art classs, Happy Red Hatters and the Minot Corner Methodist Church. In 1952, she married Richard C. Jewell of Buckfield, he died in 1991.

Survivors include three sons, Sidney and Susan Jewell of Wrightsville, Pa., Ricky Jewell and Rebecca Lowell of Buckfield and Dale and Diane Jewell of Poland; five grandchildren, Justin, Dyllan and Ashley Jewell, Shawn Crane and Abbie Luttrell; and several great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert Greenwood and his wife, Barbara, of Minot; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Greenwood of California; two nieces; and five nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Edith Sylvester and Pauline Barlow; and two brothers, Robert and William Greenwood.
