FARMINGTON – Patricia M. “Pat” Allen, 77, of Wilton, died Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington after a short stay.

She was born on June 4, 1931, in Castle Terrace, Aberdeen, Scotland, the daughter of William and Mary Inglis Smith.

Her family moved to the U.S. in 1947, and settled in Jay, where she attended school and graduated from Jay High School with the class of 1951.

She worked as a teller for Depositors Trust for several years before going to work as a travel agent for Farmington Travel until the time of her retirement.

On May 27, 1956, she married Bernal E. Allen at the Wilton Methodist Church. They celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary in May of 2008.

She was well-known at the bingo halls as it was her favorite pastime.

She is survived by her husband, Bernal; niece, Tamary Wentworth and her three daughters, Kelsey, Alex and Sophie; nephew, Stewart Smith; half brothers and sisters, David Smith, Kenneth Smith, Billy Smith, Timmy Smith, Carol Pauley, Doris Austin, Debbie Hathaway and Norma Bowman; and brother-in-law, Donald Allen.

She was predeceased by her father, William Smith; mother, Mary Smith Birrell; stepfather, Robert Birrell; brother, William I. Smith; half brother, Norman Smith; sisters-in-law, Alice Stanley and Leanne Allen.
