LEWISTON – Doris Arlene Michael, 84, of Auburn, died Sunday, Sept. 14, at Central Maine Medical Center, after a courageous battle with lymphomic cancer.

She married Samuel Michael in 1948. He died in 1996. She worked many years at Loring Studios and New England Tel. & Tel. She was later employed by the city of Auburn in the board of voter registration and then in the assessor’s office as a certified Maine assessor and appraiser. She retired in 1988.

She had been active in the YWCA for many years and in the East Auburn Men’s Club Auxiliary. She was a member of the Danville Grange and the Robin Dow and First Auburn Seniors. She enjoyed playing beano, taking trips, gardening, reading and watching the Red Sox. She also enjoyed playing cribbage and was proud of her “29 hand” she got a few years ago.

She is survived by daughters, Marcia and Margaret of Auburn; son, John of Seattle, Wash.; stepdaughter, Sandra Labelle of Falmouth; stepgrandson, Scott Jacques of San Rafael, Calif.; granddaughter, Shannon Brady of Seattle, Wash.; grandson, SSgt.
