INDUSTRY – Herbert J. Parlin, 83, of Industry died Sunday, Sept. 14, at his home.
He was born May 27, 1925, in Peru, the son of Wilbur and Fabiola (Beaucage) Parlin. He attended the schools of Farmington. On June 18, 1949, he married Mary Conway at St. Joseph’s Church in Farmington.
He served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Noble in the Pacific Theater, where he recieved two Bronze stars. After World War II, he worked at Rice Bros. Shipyard in Boothbay Harbor and at Pratt & Whitney in Conneticut. He worked many years at Farmington Shoe in many positions retiring as superintendent. He was a member of the Northern Lights Snowmobile Club, enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and trapping. In his retirement, he drove cars back from auction for Jim Martin Subaru.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary; two sons, Michael Parlin and his wife, Diane, of Washington State, and David Parlin and his girlfriend, Jane Farrington, of Farmington; and two grandchildren, Aaron and Adrian Parlin of Washington State.
He was predeceased by his brother, Donald.
