The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life Team Members 2008 will host a chicken barbecue on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the River Valley Expo. Menu will include BBQ chicken breast, summer salad and yeast roll. Donation $6. Add a homemade dessert, apple pie or chocolate cake. Cost will be $7. You may eat at the site or take it to go.

All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Funds raised are used for research, early detection and prevention programs, Road to Recovery (drivers in our area have logged 3,000 miles this quarter, June 1 to August 31.) This is a free transportation program to and from treatment for cancer patients. Look Good-Feel Better Program (offered by Island Indulgence), provides wigs and make-up to patients again at no cost, that truly help them look good and feel better, and Reach To Recovery, a network of Breast Cancer Survivors helping newly diagnosed patients better understand treatments and options. We also help with community health days throughout our area, which includes Andover, Bethel, Buckfield, Byron, Canton, Carthage, Dixfield, Hanover, Mexico, Roxbury, Rumford, also Upton, Lincoln, Milton and Magalloway Plantations.
