FARMINGTON – It took more than a year, but Thursday’s opening at the new Rite-Aid on the Intervale found customers marveling at the large, bright interior.
“The lower shelves make it much easier to see everything,” said Nikki Adams of Farmington as assistant manager Matthew LeClair gave her and Connie Whiting of Industry a tour of newly stocked shelves and the pharmacy, complete with a drive-up window.
“The store has a little bit of everything with the pharmacy as the centerpiece,” said manager Peter Roy as he greeted the trickle of customers early Thursday morning.
“It’s just like home,” Whiting said of the pharmacy waiting area designed to hold several chairs and a flat screen television to watch while waiting for a prescription.
With progress came a loss, however. Morning coffee and conversation at the Farmington Diner ended when Rite-Aid construction started. The diner closed, and was hauled away to Cemetery Road in East Wilton, where it remains in storage.
