AUGUSTA – Maine’s fall foliage has started to turn – but not much.

The Department of Conservation’s second foliage report of the season reports very low color change and very low leaf drop across the entire state.

Rangers say pockets of color have started showing up around Baxter State Park, Moosehead Lake and the Rangeley Lakes region, as well as in high elevations along Route 11 in Aroostook County.

Otherwise, though, the best is yet to come for the annual changing of the colors.

The peak colors typically show up in Maine between late September and mid-October.
