WATERVILLE – Alice J. McLaughlin, 75, formerly of Mexico, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, Sept. 11, with her family by her side at the Inland Hospital.
She was born in Mexico, on March 29, 1933, the daughter of Hubert and Mary (Lejeune) Deraspe and graduated from Mexico High School, Class of 1950.
She lived a full life and was surrounded by her family and friends throughout. She traveled across the country and lived in Connecticut, Florida, and Arizona. She returned to Maine in 2004 to be closer to her family and her birthplace. She was a devoted mother and a devout Christian. No matter what the circumstance, she always saw the best in people and encouraged them to follow the same Christian teachings that she believed in so strongly.
She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Theresa Church in Mexico. Alice or “AJ,” as many knew her, enjoyed playing bingo, Scrabble, cribbage and Pinochle. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her, but we also know she is with the Lord and reunited with the many loved ones that passed before her.
She was formerly married to Albert G. Wargo and the widow of James W. McLaughlin.
Survivors include sons, Michael McLaughlin of Randolph, James McLaughlin and wife, Kristen “Kricket,” of Jefferson, Alex Wargo and fiancé, Heather Dickinson, of Waterville and Paul Wargo and wife, Kim, of Sebring, Fla.; daughters, Kathleen Golden of Waterville and Jean Ford of Mexico; sisters, Patricia Holland of Wilton and Evelyn Arbor of Mexico; grandchildren, Matthew Ford of St. Louis, Mo., and Travis Ford of Mexico; sister-in-law, Beatrice Deraspe of Mexico; and brother-in-law, Louis Giroux of Scarborough.
