ALFRED (AP) – Two New York men charged in the killing of an Old Orchard Beach man have entered pleas in York County Superior Court of not guilty.
Rennie Cassimy and Jeffery Williams are accused of killing 45-year-old Winston George. The U.S. Marshal’s Service said this summer that George was bound with a bag over his head and had a bottle of rum forced down his throat when he was found in his home on June 20.
The motive remains unclear. Williams is George’s brother-in-law, while Cassimy rented an apartment from George’s family in New York.
The men were indicted earlier this month by a York County grand jury. Murder carries a maximum penalty of life in prison in Maine.
