FARMINGTON – Phoebe C. Walton, 83, a longtime resident of Chesterville, died Thursday, Sept. 18, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, after a short illness.

She was born on June 3, 1925, in Fayette, the daughter of James M. and Nettie (Plant) Mitchell and was a 1943 graduate of Livermore Falls High School.

On March 23, 1946, she married Percy E. Walton in Fayette. He passed away in 1963. She was a devoted homemaker and had worked at Farmington Shoe Co., retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Moose Hill Baptist Church and the Chesterville Baptist Church and also was a longtime Grange member.

She is survived by a son, Kyle Walton and his wife, Cathy, of Industry; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by brothers, Charles Mitchell and Almon Mitchell; three sisters, Margaret Barbioni, Marrion Davenport and Lucie Kennison; an infant brother, Roger Mitchell; and infant twins.
