In a high school cross country meet, each school will typically send out one or two runners who are better than the rest of the team, leaving the rest of the team to work together as a pack to attain the best results possible.

Lewiston has pushed the envelope on this concept in the first part of the season.

While Robbie Leeman continues to run as the team’s No. 1 runner, nearly a minute ahead of the rest of the team, that “rest of the team” is sticking together, and staying very, very fast.

The distance between Lewiston’s second runner, Hossain Ibrahim, and its eighth runner (who finished 10th overall) at a recent meet at Messalonskee was just 1:49.
